Culver City Mental Evaluation TeamThe Culver City Mental Health Evaluation Team(CCMET) is comprised of one mental health trained police officer and one Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Clinician. The mission of this team is to provide response, care, and treatment of individuals requiring mental health assistance.
Officer Eric Shimabukuro
Officer Eric Shimabukuro has 17 years of law enforcement experience and has been with the Culver City Police Department for 13 years. Officer Shimabukuro has worked various assignments including Detectives, Field Training Officer and is currently assigned to patrol as a member of the Mental Health Evaluation Team and Crisis Negotiation Team. Officer Shimabukuro and Dr. Dan work closely together and respond to incidents in the field where people are experiencing a mental health crisis. Along with responding to mental health related calls, they facilitate resources to those that are experiencing homelessness.

Daniel Richardson, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist who works for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Emergency Outreach and Triage Division. Dr. Richardson (AKA Dr. Dan) has been assigned to Culver City Police Department to co-respond with officers on mental health related 911 calls since September 2015. Dr. Richardson received a doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University in 2008, and has worked extensively with children, adults, and families in a variety of settings.
