Assistant Chief Ronald Iizuka provides leadership and management oversight for the day to day operations of the Culver City Police Department, including the three Bureau Commanders. Assistant Chief Iizuka is also responsible for the Professional Standard Unit. Assistant Chief Iizuka reports directly to, and may act on behalf of, the Chief Of Police.
Biography - Ron started his law enforcement career with the City of San Gabriel in 1984. He lateral transferred to Culver City Police Department in 1986. He has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman University in 2003. Ron is also a graduate of POST Command College, Executive Development and the West Point Leadership Academy.
As a police officer, Ron worked in patrol as a Field Training Officer, Crime Impact Team, Robbery/Homicide Detective, Auto Theft Detective, Narcotics Investigator, and Traffic Investigator. In 1996, Ron was promoted to Sergeant and worked Patrol as a field supervisor, Detective supervisor, and Traffic supervisor. In 2001, Ron was promoted to Lieutenant and has worked in the Strategic Planning & Training Section, Watch Commander and Internal Investigations/Budget, Investigations and Traffic and in 2013 Ron was promoted to Captain and oversaw the Traffic Bureau. In 2017 Ron was promoted to Assistant Police Chief and currently oversees the Administration Bureau.
Ron has been the recipient of numerous awards; The Medal of Valor, Distinguish Service Medal, David M. Shabby Award, Special Recognition, CCPOA Officer of the Year, Chamber of Commerce Officer of the year and the Medal of Valor from the California Attorney General’s Office.
