Volunteers in Patrol

Beginning in 1995, the Culver City Police Department established the Citizen Volunteer Program. Volunteer members donate numerous hours of their time to the Department every month. The program has strengthened the bond and reaffirmed the partnership between the Police Department and the community. 

Before becoming a volunteer member, individuals must undergo a background check, Live Scan and security clearance. Some requirements include being 18 years of age or older and having no prior felony or certain misdemeanor convictions.  

Most importantly, our Citizen Volunteers take great pride in knowing that they truly make a difference in the community, and that their efforts are helping to make Culver City a better place to live, work, and shop.

Administrative Duties

  • Bicycle Registration Program
  • Data Entry
  • Filing
  • Mail Distribution
  • Front Desk Assistance
  • Subpoena Processing
  • Miscellaneous Projects as Needed

Patrol Duties

At some events, Volunteers in Patrol will act as eyes and ears for the Culver City Police Department and contact the Watch Commander if officer assistance is needed.  At other events, Volunteers in Patrol will assist as requested by the event organizers. Listed below is a partial list of events:

  • Coffee with a Cop 
  • Drug Takeback Days
